      Have apartment (n.住宅單位), find spouse (n.配偶) - that's how 60 percent (n.百分數) of 710 residents (n.居民), aged 18 and over, voiced (v.表達) their predicament (n.困境) in a poll (n.調查).
      They said that once they own a flat (n.住宅單位), marrying the girl of their dreams then becomes easier.
      The survey (n.調查), conducted (v.做) by Chinese University (n.中文大學) from October 22 to 27 found 77 percent saying paying a mortgage (n.按揭) will prove (v.最終證實為) a huge burden (n.負擔).
      Victor Zheng Wan-tai (n.鄭宏泰), of the CUHK(n.香港中文大學、中大)'s Hong Kong (n.香港) Institute (n.研究所) of Asia-Pacific (n.亞太區) Studies (n.研究), said the results clearly reflect (v.反映) public pessimism (n.悲觀) concerning the property (n.房地產) market.
      "People no longer believe that those in the middle class (n.中產階層) are entitled (v.使符合資格) to become property owners," Zheng said.
      While more than three-quarters (n.四分之三) said buying property would pose (v.造成) a burden, 70 percent agreed that this is better than renting.
      The results tally (v.合) with those of a poll conducted in Beijing (n.北京), Shanghai (n.上海), Shenzhen (n.深圳) and Guangzhou (n.廣州), in which thousands of young people took part.
      The poll found that about two-thirds (n.三分之二) of mainlanders (n.內地人) prefer to buy homes before deciding to get married.

      解讀:mortgage所指的按揭,即為了購買東西而向銀行借貸,然後按期還款,而mortgage通常都是指樓宇按揭,可叫house mortgage(房屋按揭)、(real) property mortgage(房地產按揭)等,即香港人常說的“供樓”;留意mortgage的t並不發音。
