Hu help sought for hostage justice 家屬尋求胡總協助 人質事件取回公道

  Survivors (n.生還者) and relatives (n.家屬) of those who died in the Manila (n.馬尼拉) hostage (n.人質) tragedy (n.慘劇) have launched (v.發起) an online (adj.網上的) petition (n.請願(信)) to seek help from President (n.國家主席、總統) Hu Jintao (n.胡錦濤) in their fight for justice (n.公道).
  The petition urges (v.促請) Hu to raise (v.提出) the issue (n.議題) with Philippine (adj.菲律賓的) President Benigno Aquino (n.阿基諾三世) during next month's Asia(n.亞洲)-Pacific (n.太平洋) Economic (adj.經濟的) Cooperation (n.合作) summit (n.高峰會) in Russia (n.俄羅斯).
  Eight Hongkongers (n.香港人) were killed in a botched (adj.笨拙地弄糟的) rescue (n.拯救) attempt after a rogue (adj.暴戾的) ex(adj.以前的)-policeman had taken them hostage during a visit to the Philippines (n.菲律賓) on August 23, 2010. However, the families of the victims (n.遇難者) have not received an apology (n.道歉) from the Philippine government and their grief (n.哀傷) has turned to anger (n.憤怒) over the past two years.
  Those who wish to give their support can log on (v.登入) to the website (n.網站) - www.rip823.com - to add their signature (n.簽署).
  Separately (adv.此外), a booth (n.攤位) where petitions can be signed will also be set up in the Mong Kok (n.旺角) pedestrian (n.行人) precinct (n.行人專用區). The signatures will be presented (v.提交) to either Chief Executive (n.行政長官) Leung Chun-ying (n.梁振英) or to Beijing (n.北京) via (prep.透過) the central government liaison (n.聯絡) office.

  馬尼拉人質慘劇的生還者和死者家屬發起了網上請願行動,希望國家主席胡錦濤可以為他們討回公道。
  在請願信中,他們促請胡主席下月在俄羅斯參加亞洲太平洋經濟合作高峰會中,向菲律賓總統阿基諾三世提出這個議題。
  一群香港人二○一○年八月二十三日在菲律賓旅行期間,被一名暴戾的前警員劫持作人質;拯救行動弄得一團糟,結果八名港人被殺。然而,遇難者家屬因兩年來未獲菲律賓政府道歉,由哀傷轉為憤怒。
  希望支持他們的人士,可登入網站www.rip823.com簽署請願信。
  此外,他們將在旺角行人專用區設置攤位,讓市民簽署以示支持請願行動。蒐集到的簽名將會交予行政長官梁振英,或透過中央政府聯絡辦公室提交到北京。

   解讀:動詞botch解作笨拙地弄糟、弄得一團糟,後面可用介系詞up,例如︰He botched (up) the concert(他把音樂會弄糟了);過去分詞botched充當形容詞,意思相同,例如a botched interview是弄得一團糟的面試。

   解讀:precinct可泛指政府指定的區域,例如解作選區、警區等,例如︰He belongs to the New York precinct(他屬於紐約選區);但在英國,precinct則可專指步行商業區,即香港人常說的行人專用區。
