French (adj.法國的) socialist (n.社會黨成員) Francois Hollande (n.奧朗德) has won a clear (adj.明顯的) victory (n.勝利) in the country's presidential (adj.總統的) election (n.選舉).
Mr Hollande - who polled (v.獲得票數) just under 52% of votes in Sunday's run-off (n.決勝投票、次輪投票) - spoke of his pride (n.自豪) at becoming president (n.總統).
Admitting defeat, centre-right (adj.中間偏右的) incumbent (n.現任者) Nicolas Sarkozy (n.薩爾科齊) wished "good luck" to Mr Hollande.
Analysts (n.分析家) say the vote has wide implications (n.含義) for the whole eurozone (n.歐元區). Mr Hollande has vowed (v.承諾) to rework (v.修改) a deal (n.協議) on government debt (n.債務) in member countries.
Mr Hollande - the first Socialist to win the French presidency (n.總統職位) since Francois Mitterrand (n.米特朗) in the 1980s - gave his victory speech in his stronghold (n.勢力強大的地方) of Tulle (n.蒂勒) in central France (n.法國).
Mr Hollande capitalised (v.獲得益處) on France's economic woes (n.困難) and President Sarkozy's unpopularity (n.不得民心).
The Socialist candidate (n.候選人) has promised to raise taxes on big corporations (n.公司) and people earning more than 1m euros (n.歐元) a year.
He wants to raise the minimum wage (n.最低工資), hire (v.僱用) 60,000 more teachers and lower the retirement (n.退休) age from 62 to 60 for some workers.
