China's Wang Shu wins architecture's top honor 華人王澍奪最高建築榮譽

      Chinese (adj.中國的) architect (n.建築師) Wang Shu (n.王澍) is this year's winner of the Pritzker (n.普利茲克) prize, his profession(n.行業)'s highest honor (n.榮譽), in recognition (n.表揚) of his efforts in designing "timeless (adj.永恆的)" buildings in a nation in rapid flux (n.不斷變化).
      Wang, 48, whose modestly (adv.謙遜地) named practice (n.工作地點) Amateur (adj.業餘的) Architecture Studio (n.工作室) is based (adj.位於……的) in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou (n.杭州), is only the second architect of Chinese origin (n.族裔) to win the Pritzker, after Guangzhou(n.廣州)-born I.M. Pei (n.貝聿銘) in 1983.
      Jury (n.評審團) chairman and British (adj.英國的) property (n.房地產) developer (n.發展商) Lord (n.勳爵) Peter Palumbo (n.帕倫博) said the decision to give the Pritzker to Wang - and in doing so catapult (v.使一躍成為) him into the elite (n.精英階層) of global (adj.全球的) architecture - was unanimous (adj.一致同意的) among the nine jurors (n.評審委員) who included past laureates (n.得獎者) Zaha Hadid (n.扎哈.哈迪德) and Glenn Murcutt (n.格倫.馬庫特).
      "This is really a big surprise," said Wang in a statement (n.聲明) issued (v.發表) by the Hyatt (n.凱悅) Foundation (n.基金會) of Los Angeles (n.洛杉磯), which administers (v.管理) the prize that is sometimes known as the Nobel (n.諾貝爾) prize of architecture.

      中國建築師王澍,成為了建築界最高榮譽“普利茲克獎”今年的得獎者,以表揚他在一個瞬息萬變的國家中,努力設計出“永恆”的建築。
      王澍今年四十八歲,他謙遜地命名為“業余建築工作室”的工作地點,位於中國東部城市杭州。他只是第二位華裔建築師贏得普利茲克獎,另一位是祖籍廣州的貝聿銘,在一九八三年得獎。
      擔任評審團主席的英國房地產發展商帕倫博勳爵透露,把普利茲克獎頒給王澍,是九位評審委員的一致決定,當中包括過去得過此大獎的扎哈.哈迪德和格倫.馬庫特。王澍今次獲獎,令他一躍走進了全球建築界的精英階層。
      這個獎項有時稱作“諾貝爾建築獎”。王澍在管理此獎的凱悅基金會發表的聲明中說:“這真是個巨大的驚喜。”
