If you want to rent an apartment, sell a car, get a job, buy a business or hire a nanny, you can usually get quick results by placing an ad in your local newspaper. All you have to do is call the classified section of your local newspaper to place an ad. If you want to cut down the cost, remember to make your ad as brief and clear as possible. Here are two examples of ads using abbreviated language:

      rent = 租用或出租，例如： A student rented a room from her. 有個學生向她租了一個房間。She rented the room to an international student. 她把房間租給一個國際學生。
      apartment = 一套房間 = flat （英式英語）

      nanny = 保姆。nanny 通常是指富裕家庭聘用來照料小孩的人

      brief = short 簡短
      abbreviated language = 簡寫，縮寫
      domestic help = 家庭僱傭
      F/T = full-time 全職
      N/S = non-smoking 無抽煙嗜好的
      babysitter req′d = babysitter required 需要僱人照料小孩子
      7 mos. old = 7 months old 七個月大
      Refs. = references （此處解）介紹人，尤指可就求職者的能力及品行作出評價的人
