HAVING A BABY IN THE HOSPITAL
( 2011-10-07 )

You are admitted to the hospital to give birth to your second child. The hospital attendant takes you into the labour room and a nurse comes in to talk with you.
A: Mrs LeClaire, how far apart are your contractions?
B: I'm having contractions every five minutes now.
A: You seem to be breathing well. Has your water broken yet?
B: Yes, my water bag has probably broken. I noticed some clear fluid a few minutes ago.
A: You're well advanced in labour. Are you able to handle the pain?
      B: I'm O.K. for now.
A: That's good. Let me know when the pain becomes unbearable,  so we can give you something to relieve it.
B: When can my husband come in? He wants to be with me during the birth.
A: He can come in now. I'll call your doctor. As soon as he arrives, I'll get your husband a mask and gown for the delivery.
