You telephone your provincial health agency to request information and an application for their medical insurance plan.
      A: Good morning, Medical Services.
      B: My family and I have just moved here from  Tokyo. I'd want to know if we can apply for the provincial health insurance plan?
      A: Are you landed immigrants?
      B: Yes, we are. We arrived last week.
      A: For people who have just landed here, there is a waiting period of three months for medical coverage in our province.
      B: Oh, I didn't know that. Could you please send me an application form right away?
      A: I'll send it out to you along with an information brochure as soon as I take your name and address.
      B: Do you know where I can get coverage during the waiting period?
      A: Yes, there are private insurance companies that offer medical insurance to people in your situation.

      你撥電話往省政府保健代辦處，查詢有關資料及索取醫療保險計劃的申請表格。
      甲：早晨，醫療服務部。
      乙：我與家人剛由東京搬來這裏。我想知道可不可以申請本省的醫療計劃？
      甲：你是不是已經抵的移民？
      乙：是，我們上星期剛來到。
      甲：在我們這個省，剛抵的移民須等候三個月，他們的醫療保險計劃才能生效。
      乙：啊，我不知道這一點，你可以立即寄一份申請表格給我嗎？
      甲：我寫下你的姓名、地址後就會連同有關資料的小冊子寄給你。
      乙：你知不知道在等候期間，我可以在哪裏買到醫療保險呢？
      甲：有些私人辦理的保險的公司可以提供醫療給和你情況相同的人。

      Language Notes 語文註解：
      (1) Provincial health insurance plan——省政府的醫療保險計劃。加拿大醫療保險計劃是由各省自行辦理的，名稱固然有別，保金、保險範圍和等候期也會不同。
      (2) Landed immigrant——已抵的移民。
      (3) Waiting period——等候期。
      (4)  Medical coverage——醫療保險範圍。
      (5) Right away——立即。
      (6) Brochure——小冊子。（請留意Brochure一字的發音。）
