對安大略省的高中應屆畢業生，滑鐵盧大學是以成績最好的六科來做為錄取標準，這六科的總平均分數最低不能低於75分。
至於加國其他省份，最基本的要求是必須讀完12年級，得有高中畢業資格。也是和安省高中學生一樣，用成績最好的六科來計算，各科系要求的六門科目各有不同。以下為接受大一新生入學的科系，以及各科系指定必須修過的12年級科目：

      應用健康科學院(Faculty of Applied Health Sciences)
      * Health Studies：生物、化學、英文、數學，申請Pre-Health Professions則須再加上物理。
      * Kinesiology：化學、數學、一門生物或物理。
      * Recreation and Leisure Studies：英文、一門藝術(或商業、法文、外文、社會學科)；如申請Therapeutic Recreation，須加生物；申請Recreation and Business，須加金融會計。

      文學院(Faculty of Arts)
      * Accounting and Financial Management：英文、數學、微積分、金融會計。
      * Arts and Business：英文、數學。
      * Computing and Financial Management：英文、數學、微積分、金融會計、11年級Computer Science。
      * Honours Arts：英文、數學。
      * Independent Studies：英文，必須提出自傳、推薦人、並參加面試。
      * Social Development Studies：英文、數學。
      
      工學院(Faculty of Engineering)
      * Architecture：英文、物理、數學、微積分、藝術、視覺藝術，必須填寫AIF入學資料表，提出作品集，並須參加面試。
      * Software Engineering：英文、數學、物理、化學、微積分，11及12年級Computer Science。
      * 其他Chemical Engineering、Civil Engineering、Computer Engineering、Electrical Engineering、Environmental Engineering、Geological Engineering、Management Engineering、Mechanical Engineering、Mechatronics Engineering、Nanotechnology Engineering、Systems Design Engineering都是：英文、數學、物理、化學、微積分。

      環境學院(Faculty of Environment)
      * Environment and Business：英文、數學、一門自然學科、金融會計。
      * Environment and Resource Studies：英文、至少一門自然學科、至少一門社會學科。
      * Geography and Aviation：英文、數學、地理、微積分、地球科學，須參加科系入學說明會、並得有加拿大運輸部 Category 1 醫療證書。
      * Geography and Environmental Management：英文、數學、地理、地球科學。
      * Geomatics：英文、數學、微積分、Computer Science。
      * International Development：英文、至少一門自然學科或數學、至少一門外文。
      * Knowledge Integration：英文、數學、一門自然學科，必須填寫AIF入學資料表。
      * Planning：英文、數學、生物或地球科學、一門Canadian and World Studies方面的功課。

      數學學院(Faculty of Mathematics)
      * Bioinformatics：英文、化學、數學、微積分、生物或物理、11年級Computer Science，需有推薦老師、參加Euclid數學競賽?釬以及加拿大電腦競賽。
      * Computational Mathematics：英文、數學、微積分、11和12年級的Computer Science，需有推薦老師?釬並參加過Euclid數學競賽。
      * Computer Science：英文、數學、微積分、11和12年級的Computer Science，需有推薦老師、參加過Euclid數學競賽?釬以及加拿大電腦競賽。
      * Computing and Financial Management：同以上文學院該科系的要求。
      * Mathematics：英文、數學、微積分、11和12年級的Computer Science，須有推薦老師、參加過Euclid數學競賽。
      * Mathematics/Business Administration：英文、數學、微積分、11和12年級的Computer Science，需有推薦老師?釬參加過Euclid數學競賽。
      * Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy：英文、數學、微積分、金融會計、11和12年級的Computer Science，需有推薦老師、參加Euclid數學競賽。
      * Mathematics/Financial Analysis and Risk Management：英文、數學、微積分、11和12年級的Computer Science，須有推薦老師、參加過Euclid數學競賽。
      * Software Engineering：同以上工學院該科系的要求。

      理學院(Faculty of Science)
      * Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy：英文、數學、微積分、兩門自然學科(生物、物理、化學、地球科學)。
      * Biotechnology/Economics：英文、數學、化學、微積分。
      * Environmental Science：英文、數學、物理、化學、微積分、地球科學
      * Honours Science：英文、數學、物理、化學、微積分、地球科學。
      * Life Sciences：英文、數學、生物、物理、化學、微積分。
      *Physical Sciences：英文、數學、物理、化學、微積分、地球科學。
      * Science and Aviation：英文、數學、物理、化學、微積分、地球科學，需參加科系入學說明會?釬並得有加拿大運輸部 Category 1 醫療證書。
      * Science and Business：英文、數學、微積分、兩門自然學科(生物、物理、化學、地球科學)、國際貿易介紹。

      申請者還必須填寫申請資料表(Admission Information Form，簡稱AIF)，用以介紹自己、填報各種課外活動、解釋曾影響自己成績的任何特殊情況、以及希望Waterloo考慮的其他任何對自己有幫助的事情。
      華鐵盧大學的報名截止日期為： 會計及金融管理：2月1日 建築專業：2月12日 工程科系：3月1日 軟件工程：3月1日其他科系：3月31日。
      
      英文流利測驗要求：
      1. 在加國或英語系國家以英語上學四年以上，可免除此要求，讀ESL的時間不能計算在內。
      2. Applied Health Sciences, Science：托福iBT 90 (說、寫各需25)，或雅思7.0。
      3. Arts, Computing & Financial Management, Environment：托福iBT 90 (說、寫各需25)，或雅思7.5。
      4. Architecture, Engineering, Software Engineering：托福iBT 100 (說、寫各需26)，或雅思7.5。
      5. Mathematics & Computer Science (Co-op)：托福iBT 90 (說、寫各需25)，或雅思7.5。
      6. Mathematics & Computer Science (Regular)：托福iBT 90 (說、寫各需25)，或雅思7.0。
      7. 托福成績必須在3月31日前提交至滑鐵盧大學，而Accounting and Financial Management的托福截止收件日期則提前至3月10日。
