奧巴馬奪和平諾獎

      The Norwegian (adj.挪威的) Nobel (n.諾貝爾) Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace (n.和平) Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to US (n.美國) President (n.總統) Barack Obama (n.奧巴馬) "for his extraordinary (adj.非凡的) efforts to strengthen international diplomacy (n.外交) and cooperation between peoples (n.民族)". The Committee has attached (v.認為是……的) special importance to Obama's vision (n.遠見) of and work for a world without nuclear (adj.核子的) weapons.
      Obama has as President created a new climate (n.氣候) in international politics. Multilateral (adj.多邊的) diplomacy has regained (v.恢復) a central position, with emphasis (n.重點) on the role (n.角色) that the United Nations (n.聯合國) and other international institutions (n.機構) can play. Dialogue (n.對話) and negotiations (n.協商) are preferred (v.認為更可取) as instruments (n.方式) for resolving (v.解決) even the most difficult international conflicts (n.糾紛).
      The vision of a world free from nuclear arms (n.武器) has powerfully stimulated (v.促進) disarmament (n.裁減軍備) and arms control (n.軍備控制) negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative (n.主動努力), the USA (n.美國) is now playing a more constructive (adj.積極的) role in meeting the great climatic (adj.氣候的) challenges the world is confronting (v.面對) . Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
