In the following short dialogs you will find some useful expressions which are often used on various social occasions.

      Agreement and Disagreement（讚同/不贊同用語）

      X: I like Mary's new dress.
      Y: So do I.
      X: But I don't think much of her new hat.
      Y: Nor do I.

      X: I graduated from ABC College.
      Y: Oh! So did I. What's your job?
      X: I'm an accountant.
      Y: What a coincidence! So am I.

      X: I don't like this film.
      Y: Ugh! Neither do I. It's too horrible.
      X: I'm not going to see such horror films again.
      Y: Neither am I. They're disgusting.

      (Note: Use so when agreeing with a positive statement; and neither/nor when agreeing with a negative statement.)
      （註：贊同一句肯定式的句子時要用so，贊同否定式的句子時要用neither或nor。）

      X: It's a fine day today, isn't it?
      Y: Yes, it is, isn't?

      X: The Beach Nerds are fantastic, aren't they?
      Y: Oh, do you really think so?
      (Y's hidden meaning: I don't think much of them); (Y暗示他不贊成。）

      X: Tom Jones is the greatest singers I've ever seen.
      Y: Well, personally I don't care much for his songs.
      (Note the use of well and personally to soften the disagreement.)
      (留意well 及 personally 令語氣變得婉轉。）

      X: All these new immigrants are making the gang problem more serious.
      Y: Well, I'm afraid I can't agree with you there.
      (Note the use of well and I'm afraid. Without them, the disagreement would sound rather abrupt..)
      (留意well 及 I'm afraid用法。如果不用上這些字眼，語氣就顯得有點草率無禮。）

      X: Look at this picture. Isn't it beautiful?
      Y: Well, actually I don't think much of it.
      (Note the use of the softeners well and actually.) 
      (留意well 及 actually這些委婉的用語。）
